Evelyn Caro is a working artist and instructor who focuses her practice on experimentation with acrylics and mixed media techniques. She focuses on creating organic, abstract paintings; as a teacher, she enjoys introducing new techniques and mediums to both the beginner and intermediate painter. Evelyn studied at the University of Alberta (Edmonton), majoring in painting; furthermore, she possesses many years of working experience in the art supply industry, which nurtured a “hands on” sensibility regarding her use of art materials. Evelyn’s formal training coupled with her love of artist supplies makes her a progressive and knowledgeable artist.
Knicki Markolf In House Instructor
Knicki Markolf is a printmaker and stone sculptor who loves the layering techniques of printmaking and is now focused on evolving through new and experimental techniques. She has shown and been collected internationally for her printmaking. Knicki is currently represented in Albuquerque, NM at www.newgroundsprintshop.com Knicki is formally trained at the Alberta College of Art & Design, majoring in Printmaking. She has been a working artist for the last 25 years and presently owns Rainbow Crow Studio & Fine Art Gallery in the trendy area of Marda Loop. It is a working studio where she works on her stone sculpting and printmaking and is continuously showing her new works throughout the year.
Waunita Simmons Guest Instructor
Waunita Simmons, being an artist herself, is continuously curious and intrigued by the endless mediums and materials there is to work with .
She was surrounded by the visual and performing arts throughout her childhood due to active parents who appreciated and gave much of their time volunteering in the arts. These wondrous years of her life were spent on stages, in theaters and on film set sites which has fueled her deep passion and respect for pure artistic creativity. This native Calgarian, has made her passion for art into her working profession. She is a visual artist, props builder, mask /wearable prop maker, and historic furnishings buyer for the theatrical and film industry in Calgary. Waunita volunteered with Muttart Gallery and Triangle Gallery and was on the board of the “House and Studio Tours” for two years. She also has an additional volunteer background in Art therapy and Horticultural therapy at the Children’s Hospital Calgary.
